Core of Hip-Hop Culture
Rapping culture is a core part of hip-hop, born in the Bronx, New York, during the 1970s alongside DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti art. Drawing from African oral traditions, Jamaican toasting, and party MCing, it evolved into a unique art form centered on rhythm, rhyme, and expression.
Beyond entertainment, rapping has been a powerful voice for marginalized communities, tackling themes like poverty, racism, police brutality, and urban struggle, while also influencing fashion, slang, and politics.
'80s' & '90s' is known to be the "Golden Era" of rap music.

Later in 1990s it gave rise to sub-genres like Gangsta rap, Mumble raps, Traps, Crunk, Drill raps, etc.
These type of genres created Gang beefs (slang for rivalry) leading to gang wars and shootouts. Disstracks and social media escalations sometimes served dangerous provocations.
